I have been procrastinating all over the place this week. Mostly because I have so much on my plate right now, that no matter what I am doing regardless of whether it is something worthwhile, I still feel like technically I should be doing something else.
Right now I am supposed to be finishing typing up discussion question ideas for the Feminist Art Chat on open field happening tomorrow (!!!) hosted by WARM. But before I do that, I am posting this for my new friend David. David sent me a facebook message yesterday, thinking I was a Robyn he had met who had offered to bake him a homemade pie in exchange for building some sort of bike rack/basket/idon’tknowwhat for her bike. Sadly, I am not THAT Robyn, do not actually know David, and do not bake pie, but since apparently David and I are both very friendly and chatty people and got to talking about this situation, and since he works at the Hub, AND since I am learning to ride a bike finally as an adult this summer and do not yet own one, AND AND since David is a rockin’ supporter of local art & likes my stuff, we have begun discussing a potential artwork-for-bike trade. (Did I just break a record for longest runon sentence? Sorry.) Theretofore, I thought he’d like to see pictures of the very bikey-looking painting I finished last week. So, this post is for David.
I think of them as being sort of spider-webby but also sort of like the spokes of a wheel. I definitely plan to make more along the same vein, too. Once I have a new motif I like to play around with it over and over until I sort of get it out of my system I guess, although I don’t know if I have any motifs that I’ve gotten sick of and completely abandoned yet.
How weird is it that we happened to make this random, accidental connection the exact week after I went to the Cycling 101 class put on by the Bike Library? Right when I am thinking, gosh, I need to practice more, and then I need to get myself a bike, since I live within fairly easy biking distance of work, and the lakes, and other awesome stuff. So strange, and so hilarious.
So, there ya go, serendipity strikes again, throwing bizarre encounters right into my lap. From now on, anytime I meet a Robyn (or Robin) I will be very tempted to ask her if she likes to bake pies. Cuz I totally stole her bike trade. Or who knows, maybe David will find the piemaker Robyn again one day and he will still get some pie. Strawberry rhubarb is my personal favorite. Or chocolate creme…mmmmm pie….
Facebook interactions have been cracking me up a lot lately and causing me to laugh out loud. While alone, in my empty apartment, with no one but me, so my neighbors probably think I’m crazy. Another recent favorite; I love Scott:
Thanks for the laughs, internets. And hey, I just learned how to take a screenshot. So productive, yet still sooooo not what I should be doing right now. Kthnxbyegnite!
